Drug abuse is not a choice
April 8, 2008 3:19 pm Addiction, Drug Abuse, Drug Rehabilitation, Drug Treatment, Rehab, Sober, Substance Abuse, Substance TreatmentDrug abuse is not a choice. No one ever “decides” to be a drug addict. On the contrary, addiction is a disease, and like all it diseases it can only be overcome with the help of competent clinical care. Whoever you are, however “in control” you believe yourself to be…you can’t beat drug abuse on your own. You need help. Only those addicts who enroll in private drug treatment programs can reasonably expect to get sober for good. Given the stakes, you can’t afford to learn that lesson the hard way.
The fact that you’ve made it this far shows you don’t need a lecture on the perils of substance abuse. You know that addiction is an awful disease. Now all that remains is for you to do something about it. The day you check into a drug rehabilitation center will be the day you start rediscovering the world as you used to know it, and yourself as you used to be. It’s hard to imagine how anyone could ever need any more persuading than that.
